Outer Circle project
Jay Barton is an English teacher based in Erdington and aspiring creative writer. He invites submissions for his project:
“I am looking for around 10 writers to each contribute a short story to a collection that we can hopefully publish together entitled ’11:Tales From The Outer Circle.’ This collection of interweaving short stories explores the lives of those on the edge of society in a bleak portrayal of urban life in Birmingham in Summer 2011. Set against the backdrop of increasing blame and fear after a night of rioting and looting, and based around the circular Number 11 bus route, which is the longest urban bus route in Europe, eleven short stories focus on a different character who takes the bus on the day after a night of lawlessness. Beginning with Karl Holding who is about to start his shift driving the number 11(a draft of which I have written), I have an outline for a range of different characters from a mix of different social and cultural backgrounds and areas of Birmingham and am searching for writers to write the journey for these characters.”
Please contact Jay via email if you would like to take part.
